Gifts to India from the UKSend a cake to India from the UK
Birthdays, anniversaries and festivals do not wait for a flight home. Message Alina on WhatsApp, and a local vendor in Mumbai or Delhi delivers while you stay in Britain.
For families split between Britain and India
About 1.3 million people of Indian origin live in the UK, and most have someone in India they want to look after on the days that matter. A parcel from the UK takes days and may not survive the journey. A cake bought in Mumbai or Delhi by a local baker arrives fresh and costs you nothing in postage or customs.
How it works from the UK
- Message Alina on WhatsApp with what you want to send, the full address with area and pin code, and the date.
- She confirms with a local vendor in Mumbai or Delhi and shows you the total in pounds.
- You pay through a secure link in the same chat. No new app, no account to set up.
- The vendor delivers and sends a photo. For deliveries, your payment is held until that photo is confirmed.
What is different about sending from the UK
- Time difference. India is 4.5 hours ahead of the UK in summer and 5.5 hours ahead in winter. Send your request a day or two early, so it reaches the vendor in their working hours and has time to be confirmed.
- Currency. You see and pay the total in pounds. The vendor is paid in rupees.
- Mother’s Day. The UK marks Mothering Sunday in March, while India celebrates Mother’s Day in May. Many families send something on both.
- Festivals. Diwali and Raksha Bandhan are the busiest times for vendors. Message at least a week ahead.
What you can send
Cakes, flowers and gifts, for birthdays, anniversaries, milestone celebrations and festivals. If you want something specific, say so in your first message and Alina will tell you what a vendor near the address can do.
What it costs
Your first request is on us. After that, a membership is a single payment of A$10 for six months or A$15 for twelve, with no recurring charge. It is shown to you in pounds at checkout. The gift and delivery are paid for separately, at the price the vendor quotes.
Common questions
Can I send a cake to India from the UK?
Yes. Message Alina on WhatsApp from your UK number. A baker in Mumbai or Delhi makes and delivers the cake, so nothing is posted from the UK.
Do I pay in pounds?
Yes. Alina shows you the total in pounds before you pay, through a secure link in the chat.
How far ahead should I order?
A day or two for an ordinary birthday, and at least a week for Diwali or Raksha Bandhan. India is ahead of the UK, so an early request avoids a rushed evening in Mumbai.
How do I know it arrived?
The vendor sends a photo on delivery and Alina passes it to you in the same chat. For deliveries, your payment is held until the vendor confirms.
Which cities in India do you deliver to?
Mumbai and Delhi today. If your family lives elsewhere, ask Alina and she will tell you whether she can arrange it.
